Job Title: Technical Sales Engineer
Reporting To: General Manager
Location: Manchester
Scope:
This role combines both office-based and field-based sales responsibilities. The position involves site visits, surveys, and face-to-face meetings with clients, alongside office-based sales activity and ongoing training.
The focus of the sales team is on driving the growth of specialist technical products and related services. Key responsibilities include managing sales forecasting, executing sales plans, and developing detailed strategies to support product and service growth across key accounts and sectors.
You will be responsible for generating your own sales opportunities through quoting and following up on live project leads, as well as prospecting for new business in targeted sectors and end-user groups. This includes strategically identifying and engaging with new, existing, and dormant customers using proven sales techniques.
You are expected to become an integral part of the business, working closely with the General Manager and wider team to contribute directly to the company’s strategic growth objectives.
Your Role Will Focus On Four Key Areas:
- Growth of product and service sales
- Expansion of end-user client base
- Building strong, repeat customer relationships
- Maintaining and increasing profit margins
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve individual sales targets
- Report daily sales activity and quotation updates
- Take ownership of key accounts and support new business generation
- Generate enquiries through calls and lead-generation platforms
- Create quotations based on customer enquiries and specifications
- Follow up on quotations and record feedback in the project tracking system
- Attend monthly performance review meetings and contribute to continuous improvement
- Conduct on-site surveys where required to inform quotation preparation
- Support the development of major new accounts across various sectors and clients
- Undertake additional tasks related to sales development as requested by management
Qualifications & Skills:
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings
- Background in solution-based selling is desirable
- Practical, growth-oriented mindset
- Exposure to the construction industry is an advantage
- Full UK driving licence
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to travel for client visits and site surveys
- Comfortable with working in elevated environments (training provided if necessary)
- GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English
