Job Description
- Lead the applications team tackling the biggest metrology challenges
- Shape customer strategy directly with the CEO at tier-1 semiconductor manufacturers
- Eindhoven, Netherlands
Invisix Measuring Systems is a fast-growing technology company developing a breakthrough tool for reconstructing the detailed 3D geometry of the most advanced next-generation semiconductor devices. As Application Team Lead / Architect, you will own the full applications engineering function: working directly with tier-1 semiconductor manufacturers to understand their device architectures and process challenges, and leading your team to deliver results that directly shape investment decisions.
This is not a software applications role. This is semiconductor applications engineering at its most demanding.
You will work extremely closely with the CEO initially, who has deep technical roots in this domain and has been leading customer relationships. The goal is to extract that knowledge and gradually take over the primary technical customer-facing role. When demos succeed, you are one of the most visible people in the organisation, working on problems that genuinely matter at the frontier of what is physically possible. Demo success is existential for the company, so you need to thrive under that level of pressure.
You will report to the Head of Development and Engineering, manage the application team, and work from the Eindhoven office.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the full applications engineering workflow: from understanding the customer's device architecture and process context, to developing the technical approach, to delivering results that prove the tool works for their specific challenge
- Lead and mentor the application team, providing hands-on technical guidance on the most demanding work while developing team capability
- Work closely with the CEO on customer strategy, gradually taking over the primary customer-facing technical role
- Develop and maintain relationships with tier-1 semiconductor manufacturers at the highest technical level
- Collaborate with algorithm, software, and hardware teams to bring together a complete solution for each customer
- Contribute to long-term technical strategy and product development direction
- Travel to customer sites approximately quarterly, with locations including Korea, Taiwan, the US, and Japan
About you:
- PhD in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience at tier-1 semiconductor manufacturers (Samsung, TSMC, Intel, Micron, SK Hynix) or as an application engineer for major metrology suppliers
- Previous role as an application engineer, application architect, or similar: customer-facing technical work where you owned the problem end to end
- Deep, hands-on knowledge of advanced device architectures (logic and memory); able to draw and explain front-end structures from memory in full detail
- Strong understanding of semiconductor front-end processes and their key metrology challenges
- Experience with optical CD metrology recipe setup and/or inverse problems an advantage
- Excellent programming capability in Python, C++, or similar, with strong knowledge of algorithms and numerical methods
- Ability to thrive under intense pressure with high customer expectations, and the mindset that delivering results is non-negotiable
- Fluent English for customer communication at all levels, with Korean and/or Mandarin Chinese an advantage
Benefits:
- Competitive salary package
- Employee Share Ownership Plan (ESOP)
- Learning and development budget to support your professional growth
- Flexible working arrangements
