Job Title: Senior Metering Engineer
Purpose
Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all fiscal and allocation measurement systems to protect revenue, meet regulatory/JV obligations, and support reliable production reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Governance and compliance
- Own metering standards, procedures, and uncertainty budgets aligned with API/AGA/ISO/MPMS and regulatory/JV requirements.
- Prepare audit documentation, lead/host external and internal audits, and close actions.
- Systems and equipment
- Specify, evaluate, and commission metering systems and analyzers (orifice, turbine, ultrasonic, Coriolis, PD meters; provers; sampling systems; gas chromatographs; flow computers).
- Ensure correct installation, configuration, and integration with SCADA/DCS/data historians; maintain as‑built documentation.
- Calibration, proving, and maintenance
- Lead calibration/proving/verification programs with traceable standards; manage certificates and intervals.
- Define CMMS strategies, spares, and obsolescence plans; ensure high availability and low measurement risk.
- Data quality and analytics
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and uncertainty analysis; monitor KPIs (availability, bias, uncertainty, measurement losses).
- Investigate discrepancies, lead RCFA, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Operations support and troubleshooting
- Provide expert troubleshooting for metering, sampling, and analyzer issues; optimize sampling quality (water cut, BS&W, gas composition).
- Develop bypass/contingency metering methods during outages; quantify impacts and recoveries.
- Stakeholder management
- Interface with production, finance, commercial, and partners on allocation/custody transfer matters; maintain transparent reporting and change control.
- Manage vendors/service contracts; define SLAs and verify performance.
- Training and continuous improvement
- Mentor technicians/junior engineers, conduct competency assessments, and deliver targeted training.
- Drive standardization, digitalization (smart meters, diagnostics), and cybersecurity/backup practices for flow computers and analyzers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (master’s preferred).
- 7–10+ years in oil and gas metering/measurement with custody transfer/allocation experience.
- Strong knowledge of API/AGA/ISO/MPMS, uncertainty analysis, and calibration/proving methods.
- Hands-on experience with flow computers, provers, chromatographs, sampling systems, and SCADA integration.
- Proficiency in data analysis and RCFA; strong documentation and audit skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management; vendor and contract management experience.
