Job Objective:
Supervise and coordinate all lifting operations at the gas plant or gas field site to ensure they are executed safely and efficiently, fully compliant with project specifications, stringent safety regulations, and gas plant-specific operational standards. Emphasize control of ignition sources and safe practices in hazardous gas areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and supervise all lifting activities in hazardous gas areas, ensuring strict compliance with gas plant safety standards and lifting plans.
- Inspect lifting equipment and accessories to ensure they are certified, in safe working condition, and suitable for use in gas zones.
- Prepare and review lifting plans and risk assessments with special attention to gas release and ignition risks.
- Coordinate closely with rigging crews, crane operators, and other personnel involved in lifting activities.
- Work in close coordination with operations, process safety, and HSE teams to maintain safe working conditions during lifts in classified areas.
- Monitor and control lifting operations to prevent incidents and ensure safe execution.
- Ensure that all lifting personnel are competent, properly trained for gas site safety, and hold valid certifications.
- Implement and enforce control of work and permit-to-work (PTW) systems before starting any lift.
- Provide specialized safety briefings (toolbox talks) on lifting activities in gas environments, highlighting gas-specific hazards.
- Stop any unsafe lifting operations and take corrective actions as required.
- Maintain detailed records of lifting activities, inspections, and equipment certifications.
- Participate in daily safety and coordination meetings and provide updates on lifting activities and any concerns.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in lifting operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role on gas or hazardous sites.
- Valid Lifting Supervisor certification from a recognized authority.
- Strong knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging practices, and relevant standards (e.g., LOLER, ASME).
- Experience working in hazardous gas areas and familiarity with gas safety practices.
- Excellent leadership and coordination skills.
- Good understanding of site safety requirements, risk management, and permit-to-work systems.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Zero lifting-related incidents or accidents, especially in gas areas.
- Full compliance with gas plant lifting plans, safety procedures, and PTW systems.
- Proper documentation and certification of all lifting equipment.
- Timely and safe execution of lifting activities as per project schedule.
- Effective communication and coordination with all stakeholders.
