Location: Anbar / Akkaz Oilfield
Reports Directly To: HSE Manager / Maintenance Manager
Objectives
▪ Ensure all electrical and mechanical equipment installed in hazardous areas complies with ATEX standards and certification requirements.
▪ Conduct inspections and audits to verify the integrity and safety of equipment in explosive atmospheres.
▪ Support safe plant operations by identifying non-conformities and recommending corrective actions.
▪ Maintain documentation and inspection records as per regulatory and company requirements.
▪ Provide technical guidance and awareness to project and maintenance teams on ATEX compliance.
Key Indicator(s)
▪ Zero non-compliance findings during internal and external audits.
▪ Timely completion of ATEX inspections and reports.
▪ Compliance with safety standards and legal requirements.
▪ Reduction in ATEX-related incidents or equipment failures.
▪ Accurate and complete documentation of inspections.
Activities
▪ Perform detailed inspections of electrical and non-electrical equipment in hazardous (classified) areas (Zones 0, 1, 2, and equivalent dust zones).
▪ Verify equipment marking, certification, and suitability for specific hazardous area classifications.
▪ Inspect installation quality, maintenance practices, and integrity of Ex protection methods (e.g., Ex d, Ex e, Ex n, Ex i).
▪ Conduct periodic audits of hazardous area equipment registers and update records accordingly.
▪ Prepare detailed inspection reports, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
▪ Support the development and review of hazardous area classification drawings and documents.
▪ Participate in incident investigations involving ATEX equipment or hazardous areas.
▪ Provide training and awareness sessions on ATEX compliance and safe practices.
▪ Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and safety teams for timely resolution of non-conformities.
▪ Ensure proper tagging, sealing, and documentation of equipment post-inspection.
▪ Liaise with certification bodies and regulatory agencies when required.

Experience Required
▪ Technical diploma or degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related engineering field.
▪ Minimum 5–8 years of experience in hazardous area equipment inspection and maintenance.
▪ Strong knowledge of ATEX directives, IECEx standards, and hazardous area classification.
▪ Certified as an ATEX Inspector or equivalent (CompEx certification preferred).
▪ Ability to interpret technical drawings, equipment datasheets, and certificates.
▪ Strong communication and reporting skills.
▪ High awareness of safety standards and best practices.
